Terms of Service

Agreement

• You have authority to enter this agreement

These Terms are between you and Pesa Notes (“we”, “us”). They cover the Android app and this website.

The service

Pesa Notes is personal finance software. It helps you record income, expenses, and transfers, and see what you can actually spend. It is not a bank, not financial advice, not tax or accounting software, and not a point of sale. Transfers between your own accounts are not income or expenses.

• Free: tracking, accounts, limited budgets (three), on-device storage, labeled ads away from the balance card and +
• Premium via Google Play (monthly or 4-month): no ads, unlimited budgets, custom categories, recurrences, calendar, goals, debts, monthly story, export, encrypted Drive backup, as shown in the app
• Optional app lock (PIN/password and biometrics)
• Email or Google sign-in required at setup

Country and currency are chosen once during setup and do not change later except when a restore reloads that choice. We may change or discontinue features with reasonable notice where we can.

Your account

• Keep registration details accurate
• One primary account per person
• You are responsible for credentials and app-lock secrets
• Use Settings in the app, or Contact, if you suspect unauthorized access

Subscriptions

Premium is sold through Google Play. Price, currency, trial, and renewal are shown at purchase and in your Play library. We do not store payment cards. Eligible first-time users may receive a short Premium trial after completing setup, as shown in the app and Play.

• Cancel anytime in Google Play under Subscriptions
• Refunds follow Google Play’s policy; we do not refund unused days ourselves
• After the paid period, the app follows free-tier gates. Your local data remains on the device

Acceptable use

You may record your own money. You may not:

• Use the app for illegal activity
• Attempt to break, scrape, or reverse-engineer the app
• Misuse another person’s account
• Circumvent Play billing

Your data

You own the records you enter. We do not claim them. You are responsible for their accuracy and for backups. Drive backup is an encrypted convenience copy, not live sync and not a guaranteed archive. Export before you delete an account.

The current app uses a local database version that is incompatible with older shop-style databases. If an older local file cannot be upgraded, it is wiped and recreated empty rather than migrated. Make a backup first if you still need old records.

Intellectual property

The Pesa Notes name, logo, design, and code are ours. We grant a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on your Android device. You may not copy, resell, or remove notices.

Disclaimer

The app is provided “as is”. Figures such as available to spend depend on what you enter. We do not warrant uninterrupted service or that every calculation fits every situation. Consult a qualified adviser for financial or tax decisions.

We are not responsible for Google Play, Firebase, Drive, or AdMob outages.

Liability

To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect losses, lost profits, or data loss from device failure, theft, or user error. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim (often zero if you only used the free tier via Play).

Ending the agreement

You may delete the account in Settings and uninstall. We may suspend access for Terms violations, fraud, or if the law requires it, or with notice if we shut the service down. Export first. Local data is gone when you uninstall or delete.

Changes and law

We will update the date on this page and notify in-app for material changes. Continued use is acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Disputes: use Contact first, then mediation, then proceedings in Uganda if needed.
